Lymphatic and immune in 3D

Explained for every age

For kids (7–11)

A second network of pipes that collects the water that leaks out of the blood and brings it back. Along the way, filters called lymph nodes trap germs.

For teens (12–16)

Lymphatic vessels that collect the extra fluid from the tissues (about 3 liters a day) and return it to the veins. The lymph nodes, spleen, thymus and tonsils are defense centers where lymphocytes recognize microbes.

Pre-Med (17+)

Network of lymphatic capillaries, vessels and ducts (thoracic and right lymphatic) that drains 2–4 L/day of interstitial fluid and absorbs lipids (lacteals). Primary lymphoid organs (bone marrow, thymus) and secondary lymphoid organs (lymph nodes, spleen, MALT). Anatomical basis of adaptive immunity and a route of tumor spread.
